Friday, May 1st, 2020 is the 8th Annual School Lunch Hero Day. This is a chance to recognize and thank the incredible people who nourish our school communities. Join us in thanking local school lunch heroes, plus more info below for the chance to win an awesome prize for you and your school lunch heroes.
With school closures due to the pandemic, school nutrition professionals are working tirelessly to make sure every child still has access to healthy meals. Check out these inspiring stories about the amazing work being done in food service programs across New England.
Show your school lunch heroes how much they mean to you:
- Create a sign or poster thanking your school lunch heroes.
- Bring your sign with you on your next school meal pick up. Display it in the window or hold it up for everyone to see. If meals are being delivered to your home, place the sign in your yard or window.
- We encourage ANYONE to participate, even if you do not get school meals. You can still participate in the contest and show your gratitude to school lunch heroes in your community by sharing a thank you message on social media.
- Need inspiration? Check out these printable thank you cards available in English and Spanish.
- Take a picture or video of your creation and post it on social media. (Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter)
- Tag us @NewEnglandDairy and use the hashtag #SchoolLunchHero between Thursday, April 23rd, 2020 and Thursday, May 7th, 2020 for your chance to win. Use #SchoolLunchHeroDay if posting on May 1st. Your school will be entered for a chance to win a pizza party for the school nutrition professionals at your school. And for your kindness, you will receive a Cabot Cheese gift set and some “dairy awesome” swag.
ONE (1) winner from all entries received on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter will be randomly selected on Friday, May 8th, 2020. The winner will be notified by private message. Make sure to include the name of your school in the post. If we don’t hear back from the winner within 48 hours, a new winner will be selected.
To be eligible for the pizza party and Cabot Cheese gift set prize, you must post to social media between Thursday, April 23rd, 2020 12:00am EST and Thursday, May 7th, 2020 11:59pm EST.
Additional Eligibility: Must be a resident in one of the five (5) New England states our organization works in (MA, CT, NH, VT or RI). Employees of New England Dairy, their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising or promotion agencies or other individuals engaged in the development, production, or distribution of promotion materials and persons who are immediate family or who reside in the same household as persons in the preceding categories are not eligible.
