Farm Tour Resources

Hosting a farm tour is a unique opportunity to connect consumers with dairy farming. Most consumers are at least three generations removed from agriculture. Today’s consumers base their purchasing decisions on their values, which means it’s more important than ever for farmers to tell them how they’re caring for their cows, their land, and their communities.

New England Dairy provides resources and support for dairy farmers looking to develop and enhance their farm tours, including practical guides and best practices. We also offer a variety of free promotional items for farmers hosting events.

Things to Consider Before Hosting a Farm Tour

  • Biosecurity

Biosecurity is a top priority if you're hosting a farm tour. Investing in shoe covers, hand washing stations, and hand sanitizer are easy steps to protect your herd.

  • Crisis Plan

The best time to prepare for a crisis is before you experience one. A crisis plan helps you develop procedures for your farm and prepare employees for how to respond during a crisis.

  • Liability Insurance

Your farm’s insurance may not cover activities outside of normal operations. Consult with your insurance agent to make sure you have the appropriate coverage.
