“There are a lot of misconceptions about dairy farms. People should visit a dairy farmer. We’re always available.”
Jacques Parent has been in the dairy business since he was a child and became the owner of his first dairy operation in 1972 and has increased operations since that time. Today, he and his family care for 2,000-acres and 1,000 cows on the Parent Farm in Vermont. They are a member of the Dairy Farmers of America Cooperative.
Jacques is active in the dairy community and is a member of several boards and organizations including a farmer led group that focuses on ways farmers can improve the environment and protect local waterways.
Jacques’ son-in-law, Dave Persons, works in the dairy industry as well and has experience working on the family farm. Dave says that farmers work with a nutritionist and veterinarian to ensure the cows are taken care of properly.
“There are a lot of misconceptions about dairy farms. People should visit a dairy farmer. We’re always available,” Dave said.
